Update Hurling News

HURLING NEWS:
Our Junior-A team's final championship group game against Carnmore is fixed for Wednesday the 8th at 7:00pm in Turloughmore. They have won all their group games to date so hopefully they will make a clean sweep of it in that one.
Our Junior-B team beat Kinvara 2:09 to 1:10 last Friday. The win leaves them well in contention in their group. Their next game is against Cappataggle on Thursday the 9th at 7:00pm in Castledaly.
Our Minors were beaten 0:19 to 1:09 by Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry in their final championship group game and will not be in the knock-out stages. It has been a tough season for them, but a lot of valuable experience has been gained which will stand to them in the future. Thanks to all concerned for your efforts.
On Saturday week the 11th, Castlegar GAA Club will be hosting a Club Day in association with NewsTalk and sponsors Skoda. Legendary players Oisin McConville and Patrick Bonnar Magher will be on hand in the morning, coaching our underage players. In the afternoon NewsTalk's Sports Saturday show with Ger Gilroy will be broadcast live from the club. Afterwards we will have entertainment and a barbecue. Skoda will have their latest models on display throughout. Full details of the event can be found on our website or by contacting any of the club officials. All members past and present are asked to support the event.
On Sunday morning last a match was played in honour of the late Cormac Connolly. The two teams were a mixture of Castlegar seniors, juniors, minors and a few veterans thrown in for good measure. The standard of hurling was high and the game fiercely contested. The greens dominated the first period leading by nine points at the break. But the whites launched a great second half fightback and only a long distance Farragher free saved the greens from defeat at the end. The greens went on to secure a two point win after extra time.
The club would like to express their condolences to Secretary Majella King and the Keady family on the loss of Paul Keady who passed away recently in Boston. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Our Club Shop is open 6:30 to 7:30 on Tuesdays upstairs in the Clubhouse.
