Choosing a secondary school to suit your child can be difficult. In many cases parents don't have a choice but where they do, it is important to give consideration to "What makes a good school good?" . According to Deirdre Raftery and Catherine KilBride, issues to be considered include school type, school environment, subject availability and choice, streaming and banding, discipline and teacher expectations.
